Brand History
Founded in 1924 in Tokyo by Mr. Shimpei Goto, the brand was named Citizen, which means 'a member of society'. This symbolizes the hope that watches are not exclusive to the wealthy elite, but can be worn by anyone around the world.
Citizen has produced approximately 290 million wristwatches and movements, achieving significant milestones including the creation of Japan's first waterproof watch, 'PARAWATER'.
Today, Citizen is recognized for its eco-friendly technology, creating Eco-Drive watches that can be charged in any light and has been awarded the Eco Mark by the Japanese Environmental Association. Now, Citizen is acknowledged as a beloved and supported brand by citizens worldwide.
